This is just a side story OVA that is just for fun. In another word, this is something they did just to make some extra money off this franchise. It is mostly unrelated to the main plot, but it does have some interesting points.
At the moment, my recommendation for you is that unless you really really like Shakugan no Shana series, or just have too much time to burn, you can mostly skip this one without worry about missing anything important about the story.

I'm a pure Shakugan No Shana fan and i truly hated this OVA, i could only watch the first 8 minutes before i put it off. The reason is because mostly OVA's are about higher quality but this is just annoying.
The fan concept behind this (in other words what actuly happends) is something i expect from a below average anime, you don't go around fucking up your series. Although i'm happy you informed me that this had nothing to do with the story line, i feel dissapointed because i waited for this OVA.
I would say if you truly liked SNS then maybe don't watch this, it's a waste of time.

I wouldn't go as far as what you said. True it's pointless and in relatively low quality, but, I don't think it's bad enough to mess up the series. I mean this could as well be one of the filler episode in the series and you probably wouldn't notice the difference between this and any other filler episodes.
On top of that, towards the end, it did get a valid point across. How much is that useful towards moving the plot forward, we'll have to see after the third series comes out.
