ToLoveRu (Ended): Just About Enough

It was a rough start with ToLoveRu because it seemed that everything in it was stolen from other animes. The ending, was almost equally as rough as the beginning. At one point, I almost shout out "Cheater" to the screen when it looked like it's going to end in a very cheap way, but the last moment saved it from being what I considered "cheap" ending.

Overall, it's an interesting anime when you follow it episode by episode, because it provides some non-sense comical relief to some other series. If you watch it all together at once, I'm not sure you'll get same satisfaction, because its repetitive nature.

Recommendation: If you do end up watching it, I recommend to watch it in multiple segments, because it will get old pretty quick if you just keep going.

ToLoveRu: Getting A Little Old...

It's still funny. It's still outrageous. But it's getting old.

After I had shaken off the initial displease of it blatantly taking materials from other similar animes, I start to like this anime because it's refreshing. However, lately it has just been repeating itself over and over again. There really nothing new any more. Even those outrageous comedies, after having seen it some many time, it's not that funny any more. They seriously need to come up with something new soon or it'll just become one of those highly repetitive comedy animes that shows up way too often.

ToLoveRu: Water...Coming out of my Nose...

The picture above...is a bit misleading about what this anime actually become, but that's just too good of a scene to miss out on taking a screen cap. I was drinking water when this scene came up, and I end up shooting half of what I drank out of my nose.

With this picture, you must be thinking this is just another fan service anime. Actually, it isn't. Although they never hesitate on cashing in on the fan service part of the show, that was never their goal (or at least I don't think it is). It's actually another Ranma style comedy (make fun of stuff for the sake of making fun). It's quite different than those whose sole focus is to show fan service.

I think I underestimated the potential of this series earlier. Even though everything resembles Urusei Yatsura, ToLoveRu does bring some new freshness into this genre.

Summary: Some alien girl landed on earth. The main guy somehow end up accidentally propose to her. (Hum, this sounds very familiar...ah, that's right, it's from Urusei Yatsura)

Rating (of 5) - first impression: 2.75 - There doesn't seem to be ANY originality so far

Personal comments: The concept is almost completely stolen from Urusei Yatsura, and the art looked just like Girls Bravo. It looks like someone just want to make some quick money by taking stuff directly from other animes and stitch them together to make this.
