[End] Omamori Himari: Oh, that's lame

Seriously? That's how they decide to solve the problem? She was going for the kill, yet he can simply grab her just like that?! I knew from the beginning that it's going to be something lame, but I wasn't expecting it to be this lame. Well, I guess you can't really expect too much out of a cookie cutter harem anime.

Final scoreboard:

Drama: 80 (Cookie cutter)
Comedy: 82 (Typical)
Action: 80 (Can't exactly call it good)
Art/Animation: 80 (Looks nice enough)
Sound/Music: 80 (Nothing special)
Character: 78 (Typical harem)
Plot: 70 (Highly predictable)
Ending: 60 (Lame!)

Re-watch value: 30 (No need for the first time through)

Overall: 73 - Cookie cutter harem

Recommendation: If you are really interested in watching some cookie cutter harem anime with some fan service, then pick this one. Otherwise, you're not missing much by skipping this.

Omamori Himari: Touching all the Archetypes

Currently finished: Episode 9

So now the role reversal has been sorted out, now all there is left is the harem and ecchi symptoms keep getting more and more severe. Yes, it's dumb, it's tasteless (well, depends on how you look at it). At least it keeps pulling out new threads. I wonder when it's going to finish touching all stereotypical harem anime archetypes and have to recycle some of them.

Omamori Himaari: Good is Evil; Evil is Good

Currently finished: Episode 6

Alright, from the typical harem prototype, Omamori Himari has evolved into the next form that is often associated with harem anime: a role reversal where the supposed good guy is actually a evil, and the supposed bad guy is acting as the good guy. I wonder how many typical harem anime archetypes would this anime touch befre the end of the series....

Omamori Himari: Harem Harem

Currently finished: Episode 3

For some reason I didn't recognize it in episode one, but as soon as she get in that flirty voice, I recognize Himari is voiced by Ami Koshimizu (小清水亜美), the voice of the beloved wise wolf Horo from Spice and Wolf .

As for the story, let me just say I'm not very impressed. So far it's just a stereotypical harem anime. However, I have to say, the chemistry between the main guy and gal is kind of nice, nicer than many other harem animes I've seen lately.

Also, it seems so far it's getting progressively heavier on fan service as the story goes. The style of the fan service, somewhat reminds me of Kampfer, except somehow, to me, this is a lot more likable than what they had in Kampfer. I guess this is just a personal taste. But I would appreciate if they can get on with the real story...if they have one that is...

[New January 2010] Omamori Himari

Japanese title: おまもりひまり
Info/download: http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/1563.html
Genres: School Comedy / Supernatural / Ecchi
I've watched: 1 episode

Summary: Yuuto is an average guy. One day, a girl named Himari crashes into his life. It turns out that he's the descendant of a family who used to protect the world by slaying daemons. Himari is a cat daemon who made a contract to protect his bloodline. To make the matter worse, Yuuto is extremely allergic to cat...

First impression score: 84 ~ Slightly overly ecchi

Personal comments: Is it just me or it seems there has been quite a few animes that the main character is allergic cat? The manga which this anime adapted from was actually on my very long to-read list. I like the manga's art style very much and it seems to have transferred to anime pretty well. The story, however, seems to be a very typical daemon protector themed harem anime.
