[Ended] Kuroshitsuji: A Real Ending

Nowadays it's all too common for anime to leave a somewhat open ending so a sequel can be made. It's especially common among manga adapted animes since most time, the adaption of anime is long before the manga ever ended. Kuroshitsuji, to my surprise, actually had a proper ending that didn't just leaving everything hanging. Although it ended properly, I still feel they went a bit overboard on making it too sentimental. Normally I would criticize it because it wipes out too much of the final climax. But in this case, an ending like this seems to be more proper than a dramatic climax.

The story itself is quite brilliant, especially with all the interaction between the devil, the angel, and the grim reaper. This is one of those smart plot build up that they seed some events from very early on to make use in the very end.

Drama: 90 (Good amount)
Comedy: N/A
Action: 85 (Some, not too much...)
Art/Animation: 80 (Dark)
Sound/Music: 90 (Love the music)
Character: 87 (Well developed, especially the devil himself)
Plot: 85 (Little twists, but mostly straightforward)
Ending: 90 (Properly ended the story)

Re-watch value: 70 (Maybe to catch some details you missed first time through)

Overall (not average): 90 ~ Very good

Recommendation: This is definitely one of the top 5 animes from October 2008 season. If you don't mind the religious implication, this definitely should be on your to-watch list.

Kuroshitsuji: So...is God coming?

Currently finished: Episode 18

Alright, first we have the Devil, then we met the Grim Reaper, now the Angel decide to crash the party. So, are we going to see God in the grand finale?

By having the Devil on the good guy's side, they portrayed the Angel in a very interesting way.

At the current rate, I somehow doubt they'll be able to resolve the mainline by the end of the series. But it's very typical for an anime that is based off an ongoing manga. I just hope they don't hang it like they did in Trinity Blood.

New score: 85 (Previous: 80) ~ Epic

October 2008 New Anime: Kuroshitsuji (黒執事)

Info/download: http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/1302.html
Genres: Dark Drama
I've watched: 1 episode
Art style: Hard Edge

Summary: Story about a kid, who is the head of a toy company and his loyal butler Sebastian.

Rating (of 5) - first impression: 4 ~ Dark and weird

Personal comments: Somewhat creepy looking but interesting. The other clumsy workers at the house add some comedy values to the story as well.
