[New April 2009] Slap Up Party -Arad Senki-

Info/Download: http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/1398.html
Genres: Fantasy / Comedy
I've watched: 1 episode

Summary: A swordsman Baron is traveling around the world to find a cure for his demonic left arm.

First impression score: 60 ~ Retarded

Personal comments: It looks like Gonzo hasn't learned their lesson on why they're so far into deficit. This is yet another stupid low grade anime that is put out by them after The Tower of Druaga. I don't have time to waste on this. It is going directly to the trash.

I just want to leave this comment here to ask the question: how long ago has it been since Gonzo actually released good shows. I notice that you seem to have high regard for them, but for the past year I've read this blog I've only seen disappointment when it comes to Gonzo.

The reason I have high regards for Gonzo is that in the past, Gonzo has produced many animes that are my all time favorite: Kiddy Grade, Fullmetal Panic, Chrno Crusade, Kaleidostar, Bakuretsu Tenshi, Gankutsuou, etc.

Ever since 2006, as the number of animes produced by Gonzo in a year start to increase, the quality of their work start to slip. It had gotten especially bad when they start making mediocre to low grade comedies in 2007 and 2008. Though there are exceptions like Special A and Bakurano, but I would consider the majority of their products in the recent years to be junk.

So, I guess to answer your question: Gonzo has been an excellent studio when it comes to consistently producing high quality animes up till 2005. But ever since 2006, I have hardly seen anything from them that is considered top-notch.

After looking at a page on Gonzo's site, I noticed something. It seemed like 2005 was a very good year for Gonzo. Everything that they produced that year I had heard of, and/or heard was good. Then after that the number of animes they produced increased and only some of their anime I had heard of.

So basically my observation of their website matches with your statement.

I think the only studios that has been consistently putting out good animes in the past few years are J.C.Staff and Bones. I already have high regards for J.C.Staff, and lots of animes from Bones has been catching my attention lately.
