Longer transformation scenes, less background details, these are the typical techniques anime production use to save money. While the the overall story quality is much higher this season, I'm seeing quite a few animes that exhibiting these symptoms as a direct result of cost saving. Take Mawaru Penguindrum for example, it has one of the longest transformation scenes I have seen lately, combine with the exact same animation dubbed with different dialogs right after, there are about 2-3 minutes of each episode uses the exact same sequence of animation. Then there's the background, they really took that to an extreme. Studio Shaft are know notoriously for doing that, but never to this level. On top of that, Shaft tend to make it visually intriguing while saving costs, this, however, is just...visibly cheap. As much as I'm liking the story so far, I just can't seem to find anything better to say about this.
