[Ended] Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season: Conclusion or New Beginning

Like I said in a previous post, in order to enjoy a shoujo anime, you ought to be able to put up with the almost endless frustration it throws at you. But on the other hand, this frustration plus enjoyment is a very unique experience you usually don't get elsewhere. Sometimes I wonder whether girls are all by nature masochists because some part of the series is just plain torture.

That brings another interesting thing about shoujo anime: Even when you can see the final outcome from miles away, and part of the story makes you want to stab your brain out, you just can't help it but to accept them. I guess that what makes a good shoujo anime.

Anyway, I digress, about Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season, this is definitely one of the best shoujo anime I've ever seen, in terms of both the story and the frustration level (remember, the quality of shoujo anime and its frustration level are actually proportional to each other). The biggest thing is that you have to be able to withstand the mental torture it brings you.

The ending is still left somewhat open just like the first season, so if they decide to make another season, they certainly could. But with the amount of side story loose end they tied off, I really don't think they intend to make a third season.

Final Scoreboard:

Drama: Infinity (If you don't call this drama, I don't know what could be called drama any more)
Comedy: 91 (Brilliant deform scenes)
Action: N/A
Art/Animation: 92 (Soft)
Sound/Music: 88 (Matches the theme)
Character: 95 (Best part of the story)
Plot: 90 (Extremely frustrating)
Ending: 92 (Good, but still semi open)

Re-watch value: 70 - Sometimes it's worth it just to see Sawako's deformed images again

Overall: 93 - Shoujo Anime of the Season

Recommendation: A shoujo story isn't like many other story, to understand its beauty, you have to suffer its torture. This is probably one of the best shoujo anime I've ever seen. If you're into shoujo stuff, you need to watch this (along with season one). Experiencing the mental torture is the best part of any shoujo anime.
