It's just too common and convenient that the main guy and the main girl of a light school drama anime somehow knew each other long long time ago. Usually, it's something the main guy did that become a life changing event for the main girl. We've seen that in Shuffle!, Kanon, Clannad (partially), and lot of other animes. It's a common "reusable" theme for this type of anime.
Another thing need to mention about this anime is that it is massively heavy on "Moe". I think that's the whole selling point of this anime/manga.
